
David Gene Berryman, 81, of Liberty, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 29, 2024. He was born to the late Curtis Carl and Marie Gilmore Berryman on Aug. 23, 1943, in Jena, Louisiana. David lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
David graduated from Jena High School in 1961, where he was a proud member of the Glee Club. His early career saw him working as a railroad engineer before transitioning to a successful career in sales. Later, he took over his father-in-law’s custom woodworking business, which he managed until selling it to enjoy his well-earned retirement.
David loved the outdoors, enjoying road trips, golfing, and deep-sea fishing adventures in Mexico. A fashion enthusiast, he delighted his family with impromptu fashion shows of his latest purchases. Known for his sense of humor, David was always ready with a joke or prank, often leaving loved ones laughing at his antics. His favorite saying, “Just think duck!” reminded those around him to let challenges roll off their backs and keep moving forward.
An avid gadget enthusiast, David loved exploring the latest electronic trends. He had a special connection with animals and shared his life with various pets, from dogs and cats to horses and even a pet rooster.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Kathryn (Cathy) Berryman; his children, John David Berryman and wife Teena and Daina Renee Moore and husband Jason; his sister, Joyce Diane Hall; and his grandchildren, Lauren, Kyle, Austin, Ashley, Andrew, Josh and Tiffany. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Everett, and Avery, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Gilmore Berryman and Curtis Carl Berryman, and brother Donald Ray Berryman; Friends are invited to visit with the family at Allison Funeral Home in Liberty, Texas, on Saturday Dec. 7, 2024, 1 to 4 p.m.
