A 21-year-old man from Crosby tragically lost his life late Sunday, Jan. 19, in a single-vehicle accident on US 90 at CR 604 in Dayton.
According to Dayton Police Chief and Interim City Manager Derek Woods, the accident occurred shortly before midnight as the man was driving westbound on US 90.
For reasons that remain unknown, his vehicle veered off the roadway, traveled approximately 400 feet in the westbound ditch, struck a guardrail, and crossed CR 604 before coming to rest on its passenger side. The vehicle then caught fire, trapping the driver inside.
The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.
“We aren’t sure if he fell asleep, was texting, or if something else happened. Unfortunately, we may never know,” said Woods.
Dayton Police Department is leading the investigation, with assistance from Texas Department of Public Safety troopers. Woods mentioned that his department might conduct a reconstruction of the crash to better understand the circumstances that led to the accident.

Have you no respect? Why don’t you go ahead and let us know your name so we can decipher if you’re a POS. Because only POS’s chimes in on an article of someone who has passed away.
He was a good young man who had a full time job at a plant and was also taking college courses. He was a son, a brother, a grandchild, nephew, cousin and friend. Be blessed Rick!
