Three arrested in Liberty drug busts, one suspect held for immigration

The Liberty County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office closed out January with the execution of two search warrants as part of ongoing narcotics investigations.

On Jan. 30, 2025, investigators with the Pct. 4 Constable’s Office, with assistance from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team and the Liberty Police Department, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1400 block of Cos Street in Liberty. The warrant was issued by 253rd District Court Judge Chap Cain.

During the operation, investigators reportedly seized suspected methamphetamine and scales. Two suspects, Mark Mitchell and Toni Love, both of Liberty, were taken into custody and later booked into the Liberty County Jail. Mitchell was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, less than one gram, a state jail felony. Love was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, one gram or more but less than four grams, a third-degree felony.

The following day, Jan. 31, investigators executed another search warrant at a residence in the 2500 block of Beaumont Avenue in Liberty, again with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office SRT team and Liberty police. The warrant, also issued by Judge Cain, led to the seizure of suspected powder cocaine, suspected methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, packaging materials, a scale, and firearms.

One suspect, Rafael Jimenez Quintero, was arrested at the scene and later booked into the Liberty County Jail. Quintero faces two counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, one gram or more but less than four grams, both second-degree felonies. Authorities also confirmed that Quintero has a hold from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
