
Eddie Lee Hector, Sr., 81, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at his residence.
Eddie was born Sept. 20, 1943, in Skidmore, Texas, to parents; Ernest and Bertha Upchurch Hector, a former resident of Beeville, and has resided in Dayton for the past 51 years. He was a former brick layer and supervisor at Baker-Hughes and retired from TDCJ as a guard. Eddie enjoyed hunting, fishing, barbecuing, and making his own sausage and jerky. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was always doing silly things to make his grandkids laugh. He was so proud of his grandkids and would talk about them to anyone who would listen.
Mr. Hector is preceded in death by his parents, his Wife: Barbara LaVonne Hector, Grandson: Zechariah Loren Hector, and Siblings: Ernest T. “Sonny” Hector, Margie Billings, Bertha Jean Holubec, Freddie Hector, and Shirley Dial. He is survived by his Daughter: Karen L. Springer and her husband Kevin; Sons: Eddie Lee Hector Jr. and his wife Virginia, and Justin Loren Hector Sr.; Grandchildren: Will Hector, Kati Woolwine, Kayla Springer, Kaitlin Springer, Justin Hector Jr., Jonathan Hector, and Jayda Hector, Great- grandchildren: Madi, Paisleigh, Cooper, Henli, Gunner, and Harli, and numerous Nieces and Nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with funeral services at 3 p.m., Thursday Feb. 6, 2025, at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Linney Cemetery in Dayton.
