Erma Mae Burton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Feb. 4, 2025, in Lufkin, Texas, at the age of 93. She was born on July 30, 1931, in Livingston, Texas; but she was a longtime resident of Dayton, Texas.
Erma dedicated many years of her life to working in the customer service field, where her warm smile and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on patrons and coworkers alike. She had a passion for nurturing those around her, often shown through her love of cooking and gardening. Erma cherished the time spent with her family and beloved dogs.
She is survived by her loving children: Elizabeth Lawrence and her husband Robert, David Mills and his wife Brooke, and Calvin Mills. Erma was the proud grandmother of Heather, Carissa, Nathan, Kelci, Amber, Sarah, Audrey, Summer, and River, and she also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, dear family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Erma was preceded in death by her husband Bobby; her parents, David Thomas and Bessie Mae Lowe Thomas; and her son, John Mills.
A visitation will be held on Feb. 8, 2025, at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton, Texas, from 2:45 to 3 p.m., followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. officiated by Rev. Jeff Day. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring the memory of this remarkable woman whose spirit touched so many lives.
