Samantha Jean Ashby Sparks went home to be with Jesus on March 2, 2025, at the age of 80.
Samantha was born on Nov. 21, 1944, in Dallas, Texas. Known for her deep love for Jesus and remarkable grace, Samantha made a profound impact on everyone she met. Her ability to selflessly put others before herself was a testament to the beauty of her heart. As a devoted nurse, she dedicated her life to caring for others, always offering her wisdom, comfort, and love to those in need.
As a mother and grandmother, Samantha (known to her grandkids as Gigi) was a constant source of light and joy. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her words, often spoken with a gentle “hey, darling” or a loving “I love you,” will forever echo in the hearts of those she held dear.
Her unwavering faith in Christ was the cornerstone of her life. The strength of her relationship with God was evident in her actions, words, and the way she lived each day. Samantha demonstrated the love of Christ through years of teaching Bible Study Fellowship and singing alto in the church choir. She lived a life that serves as an example of grace, humility, and unshakable faith.
Samantha is survived by her son, Brett (Jennifer); her daughter Kristen Hamilton (Jason); her sister Sallye Thomas (Barry); her brother Jim Ashby (Sherrill); her grandkids Halie (Jordan), Abby (Jerod), Madeline, Parker (Madeleine), Molly, Jacob, and Benjamin; and her great-grandchildren Skylar, Kingston, Lyndon, Tucker, Theo, and Cohen. Samantha joins her husband, Roland, in heaven along with her parents, Joe Milton and Dorothy, and her sister Cindy.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, 1 p.m., at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, TX. All who wish to celebrate her life are welcome to join. There will be a graveside gathering at the Anahuac Cemetery in Anahuac, TX on March 8 at 10 a.m.
We will always remember you, darlin’, and we love you beyond words. Rest in peace, sweet Gigi.
