The Liberty County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office has arrested a suspect following an investigation into the alleged theft of funds from the HDISD Booster Club and the WHD Athletic Association.

According to Constable John Tucker, his office launched the investigation after receiving folders of information regarding the missing funds.

Constable Tucker and Sgt. Martel reviewed the documents and reportedly identified the suspect as Tonia K. Dodd, 55, of Daisetta.

Investigators determined there was probable cause to believe that a total of $8,097.67 had been removed from separate accounts. As a result, a warrant was issued by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Jimmy Belt for the charge of theft of property between $2,500 and $30,000, a state jail felony.

Dodd was taken into custody and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

Constable Tucker expressed his appreciation to the Liberty County District Attorney’s Office and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in the investigation.
