Freedom Church celebrates grand opening of new sanctuary in Liberty

Freedom Church Pastor Jason Cowart cuts the ribbon to officially open the church’s new sanctuary in Liberty.

Freedom Church in Liberty marked a major milestone on Sunday, April 6, with the grand opening of its new sanctuary located at 422 US 90. The 7,500-square-foot worship center now serves as the permanent home for the growing congregation, which previously met at a rented location at 1011 N. Main Street.

Sunday’s celebration drew a large crowd of church members and local officials, including Liberty Mayor John Hebert Jr. and Liberty Councilwoman Libby Simonson, a member of the church.

Ahead of the ribbon cutting ceremony, held outside the new facility, Mayor Hebert praised the new building and its role in the community.

“I just want to tell everybody what a wonderful asset this is to Liberty,” said Hebert. “The first thing you see when you come across the Trinity River is this beautiful building with so many people. This is a sign of growth for the City of Liberty.”

Hebert went on to describe the building as “warm and welcoming,” adding, “This is what Liberty is all about.” He expressed optimism for the church’s future and commended the congregation for their efforts.

“They did a fantastic job,” he said.

Freedom Church Pastor Jason Cowart led the ribbon cutting ceremony and thanked everyone who made the new sanctuary possible.

“All of this is not for our glory,” said Cowart. “It’s about Freedom Church. It’s for the glory of God. We’re going to see people’s lives changed forever.”
