One dead, one injured in shooting near Security; investigation underway

A young man and woman, both 19, were injured in a shooting Friday night, April 4, in a rural area between Cleveland and Conroe, north of SH 105.

While the address is listed in the area of Cleveland, Texas, the incident occurred closer to the Security community, in the 4000 block of Angus Court.

Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location around 8:20 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered two gunshot victims.

The male victim, identified as Gavin Woodyard, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. The female victim was transported to a local hospital. Her condition has not been released.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, along with Crime Scene Investigators and representatives from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, are conducting the investigation.

As of Monday, no suspect information has been released. Deputies are interviewing witnesses to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
