Robert Wayne Russell Sr. 68, of Oak Island, Texas, was called home by God on April 7, 2025.
A Memorial Service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Proctor’s Mortuary, 518 Miller St., Anahuac, TX.
Robert was born Oct. 12, 1956, in Richmond, Va., to Edward Lawrence Russell and Marion Manley.
After high school he started working as a sandblaster and painter. Enjoying his profession he became a foreman at Kiva Construction. Later he went to drive trucks for Oak Island Seafood, Stallions and finally retiring from Peninsula Marine.
In his spare time, he loved fishing, drinking, and hanging out with friends and family. He really enjoyed setting outside with a cold beer and loud music playing. He was blessed with two sons that he raised together with the help of his late mother and his loving wife Mattie. He was the hardest working man you ever saw even in his 40s and ’50s he was out working some 20-year-olds.
Robert was a simple man with a big heart, he didn’t like arguments or confrontations. He would try to make people talk it out before fighting; He only believed in fighting if it was really necessary…but you better not fight on his property, he’d always say “take it to the street.” He made sure we never did without, and we never needed for anything.
Robert was preceded in death by his father: Edward Russell, mother: Marion Russell; Brothers: Edward Russell, Jr., Billy Russell; Sisters: Pat Gray and many other close loved ones.
Robert leaves to cherish is memories, wife: Mattie Russell; sons: Robert Russell II, Edward Russell and honorary adopted son Cody Shook. Sister: Mary Marsh, Rose West and Lee Holiday. Brother: Johnny Russell and many many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends
