A Liberty County grand jury on Wednesday, April 23, returned three indictments against Pct. 3 Commissioner David Whitmire.
Whitmire is charged with Sexual Assault, Solicitation of Prostitution and Official Oppression. The indictments were handed down following a closed session earlier today.
At this time, details regarding the specific allegations behind the charges have not been made public.

Liberty County officials have not released a statement, and Commissioner Whitmire could not be reached for comment.
When asked for comment, District Attorney Jennifer Bergman provided the written statement below:

“As district attorney, I will not tolerate violent criminals or corrupt public officials, I am committed to pursuing justice without fear or favor, and I will use every tool at my disposal to hold individuals accountable, no matter their position,” Bergman said.
“Public officials must be held to a higher standard. When they betray the trust placed in them by the community, they damage not only their own integrity but also the public’s confidence in our system as a whole. I refuse to stand by or be complicit in any ‘good old boy’ system, and by now, that should be clear,” Bergman continued. “I am not just the District Attorney; I am also a citizen of Liberty County. Like every resident of this community, I expect honesty, transparency and integrity from those in positions of power. We all deserve better and I will continue fighting to ensure we get it.”
Whitmire surrendered himself to authorities on Thursday morning, April 24. Bonds were set at a total of $35,000.
Whitmire is being represented in this case by Houston attorney Chris Tritico, who told Bluebonnet News by phone, that he is awaiting copies of the indictments and evidence used to obtain the indictments against his client.
“We will move forward once we know more about the charges,” Tritico said.

Dam. Doesn’t seem like the good ole boy system anymore. And that’s GREAT.
It’s time to get the corruption out of there .
Don’t you think we should find out the specifics of the charges before we crucify him?
Including the DA!

Liberty County Attorney Matthew Poston confirms the missing reports will be part of the investigation.
“We want to see what Bergman signed, and if the investigation proves claims about the soil are untrue that could be a big problem,” Dolcefino said.
The former county engineer has refused comment. His daughter is the new District Attorney for Liberty County.
Spot-on! Where are the missing drainage documents for the Colony Ridge subdivisions that nobody can find? I wonder…. :-\
If you think the good ole boy crooked system is gone, then you better think again.

I’m sorry. But he lived next door to us and he has always gotten away with things he shouldn’t. He has always been corrupt. Sorry .
These are some serious allegations against Commissioner Whitmire, and it’s good to see the justice system taking action regardless of someone’s position. Back when I lived in Alberta, I saw firsthand how organizations like Legal Aid Alberta https://www.pissedconsumer.com/legal-aid-alberta/RT-F.html made sure everyone had access to fair legal representation, no matter their income or status. That kind of support really builds trust in the system. I hope Liberty County residents get the transparency and honesty they deserve as this case unfolds.
