Former educator indicted on two counts of child porn possession

Barrett, Chad

A former principal who worked in both the Hardin and Liberty school districts has been indicted on two counts of possession of child pornography, according to court records.

Chad Barrett, who most recently served as principal of Hardin Middle School, was indicted Wednesday, May 7, by a Liberty County grand jury. The indictments allege that Barrett knowingly possessed visual material depicting a child under the age of 18 engaging in sexual conduct at the time the images were made.

Barrett was removed from his position at Hardin Middle School immediately after the district became aware of the allegations. He is no longer employed by the district.

Prior to his role in Hardin, Barrett also served as a principal for Liberty ISD.

Details surrounding the investigation, including how the material was discovered, have not been publicly released. The case remains under active investigation by local authorities.

Barrett is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

  1. Give him his day in court. That’s what you would want if it were you. Cast that first stone.

    • His day in court? I’m sorry, are you suggesting that he is, in fact, innocent of the possession of CHILD PORNOGRAPHY? I guess someone else uploaded those videos of children performing sexual acts to his phone/laptop? If he was caught with it on his devices or person, then he should definitely be held to the utmost extent of the law and swiftly. As far as “casting that first stone,” Children are unable to protect themselves, so yeah…. I will most certainly stand in front of them and cast that stone!!
