Art Deco-inspired mural being added to new Cleveland restaurant

Cherry Meekins is currently working on this mural inside The Grand Bistro & Bar in Cleveland.

Cherry Meekins, the artist known for her iconic murals across Cleveland, Dayton, and Liberty, is working on a striking new piece inside The Grand Bistro & Bar—set to open soon at Grand Oaks Golf Club in Cleveland.

Staying true to the restaurant’s Art Deco theme, Meekins’ latest mural might be one of her most colorful and captivating creations yet. The design features a glamorous woman in a flowing green gown, sipping a cocktail—a stylish nod to the bistro’s ambiance. Beside her stands a vintage-clad golfer, evoking the fashion of the 1920s, despite the modern setting of the golf course.

The backdrop is a dazzling mix of gold, pink, and green flourishes, anchored by a striking blue vintage automobile. Every element—from the bold colors to the classic motifs—radiates Art Deco flair.

“I’ve never done one like this before, but I love it,” Meekins said, reflecting on the unique direction of the piece.

Chris Stoneberger, one half of the Stoneberger brothers duo behind the bistro, said the inspiration for the mural came while sorting through vintage photographs and artwork as they brainstormed decor.

“We showed Cherry our ideas and she ran with it,” Chris said.

The mural, measuring an impressive 12 by 20 feet, spans the entire main entrance wall and will be the first thing guests see upon arrival.

“It’s in the main entrance, so you can’t miss it,” Chris added. “I’m anxious to see the mural finished and hope our guests appreciate it as much as I do.”

The Grand Bistro & Bar is expected to host a soft opening for invited guests later this month, with the official grand opening to follow shortly after. For updates on the exact opening date, follow The Grand Bistro & Bar on Facebook.
