Nelda Rae Roth

Nelda Rae Roth, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on May 29, 2025, at her home. Born on Nov. 7, 1935, in Honey Island, Texas, Nelda’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, faith, and dedication to those she held dear.

Throughout her career as a cook for Kountze Independent School District, Nelda became known for her remarkable culinary skills and her generous spirit. She loved cooking and would feed anyone who crossed her threshold, always ready with a warm meal and an inviting smile. Her family fondly remembers how she would call them to share what she had prepared, enticing them to visit her home for a taste of her delicious creations.

A devoted Christian, Nelda was a godly praying woman whose faith shone brightly in her life. Her unwavering love for the Lord guided her actions and relationships, making her a source of strength and comfort to those around her. She treasured her family and friends, and her warmth enveloped everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Nelda had a zest for life that extended beyond the kitchen. She was an avid fisher and found great joy in spending her days by the water, casting her line and reveling in the beauty of the outdoors. Her passion for gardening brought life to her home, where she cherished planting roses and nurturing her plants. Even as her health declined, her love for the outdoors remained steadfast; she could often be found weedeating the yard until just a year before her passing.

In addition to her many gifts, Nelda was a talented quilter, creating beautiful pieces that were woven with love. Her ability to craft things with her hands was a reflection of her heart – always giving, always nurturing.

Nelda is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nelda Musslewhite and husband Joe of Honey Island, Texas, Evelyn McCollough and husband Larry of Segno, Texas, and Janice Murphy of Saratoga; daughter-in-law, Tammy Roth of Segno, Texas; her sister, Betty Jo Roth of Hull, Texas; and her expansive legacy continues through her 20 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. The warmth of her spirit lives on in each of them.

She now joins her parents, Lloyd Allen Parker and Bertie Busselle Parker; her husband, R.L. Roth; her sons, Lloyd and Roy Roth; her brothers, Albert, Elbert, R.A., and T.L. Parker; her sisters, Geraldine Hooks and Melba Fregia; and a great-grandson. They are reunited once again, bringing laughter and love to their eternal gathering.
