Annie Laverne Walters Ladd

Laverne Ladd passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.

Annie “Laverne” Walters was born on March 23, 1933, the youngest child of Elmer Walters and Annie Eva Robinson Walters. She was raised in Cedar Bayou (Baytown), Texas, where she was a member of Cedar Bayou Methodist Church and graduated from Cedar Bayou High School.

After moving to Liberty, she met the love of her life, Louis “Hal” Ladd. Laverne and Hal were married on October 23, 1953, at Cedar Bayou Baptist Church, and moved to Hardin a few months later. Hal and Laverne joined Hardin Baptist Church where they served the Lord until their deaths and raised their children, Kevin and Terri Ladd. Over the years, Laverne also found fulfillment working for over 30 years for the Post Office.

Laverne was preceded in death by her parents. Elmer and Annie Robinson Walters Brooks; her husband, Hal Ladd; her brothers, Richard, L.D., Elbert, and E.W. Walters; her sister, Oleta Harwood; and her son, Kevin Ladd.

She is survived by her aunt, Marie Vavrusa; sister-in-law, Karol Walters; daughter, Terri Ladd Andreason and husband Mark; daughter-in-law, Christi Gruver Ladd; grandchildren, Adam Andreason and partner Nicole, and Stephen Andreason; and her much anticipated and cherished great grandson expected to arrive in September of 2025. Laverne is also survived by her multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
