Bill Helms

Bill Helms, beloved husband, father, brother, and a man who proudly wore the titles of both Engineer and Cowboy, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 28, 1943, in Clearwater, Fla., to Archie and Nora Helms, Bill spent his life chasing the two dreams that defined his spirit—and fulfilled them both.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Shoemake Helms, his loving son, Donald Jason Helms, his brother Donald Ray Helms, nephew Shawn William Helms, and sister Jane Helms.

From humble beginnings, Bill carved out an extraordinary life. His career as an engineer took him around the world, where he left his mark not only through his work but also through the wisdom, generosity, and quiet strength he brought to every endeavor. At home, he was a man of the land—rooted in tradition, proud of being a father, husband and cowboy, and most at peace under open skies.

Bill accomplished more in his lifetime than most could ever dream of. He was a source of wisdom, a foundation of strength, and the heart of his family. His love, guidance, and grit shaped the lives of those around him, and his memory will continue to do so.

Though he may be gone from this world, his journey doesn’t end here. Bill will be laid to rest on the San Jac River Ranch, a place he held dear. From there, he will forever watch over his family, his land, and the legacy he built with his own two hands.

He will be deeply missed………. but never forgotten.

A visitation will be held at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland on Friday, June 20, from 4 to 8 p.m.
