Born on Aug. 17, 1948, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Robert was the beloved son of Sue and Virgil Manous Sr. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972, a time that shaped his strong sense of duty and resilience.
For 12 years, Robert worked with Terminix, where he was known for his work ethic and knowledge. But his passions were always rooted in simpler joys— fishing on the water, hunting for treasures at yard sales, spending time with his grandchildren, and offering his opinion on how things ought to be done. His guidance, wit, and storytelling left lasting impressions on everyone who knew him.
In his retirement years, Robert found joy in the simple things—watching classic John Wayne westerns and reminiscing about old times. He especially cherished the many poker games and memories shared over the years with his lifelong friends
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Floyd & Ricky Manous, two sisters, and his granddaughter, Kelsey Diane of Anahuac, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Manous, the love of his life and partner through all seasons.
Robert’s legacy continues through his children: Robert Clifford Manous, Jr., & wife Tonya of Dickinson, Texas, Adam Sonnier & wife Cassie of Anahuac, Texas, Annette Sonnier & spouse Larry of Anahuac, Texas, Nicol Bishop & husband Jim of DeFuniak Springs, Fla. Scott Anderson of DeFuniak Springs, Fla. He is also survived by his brother, Virgil Manous Jr., affectionately known as “Junior” of San Augustine, Texas.
He was a proud grandfather to many, including: Hope Morris & husband Michael of Baytown, Texas, Stephanie Desormeaux & husband Stephen of Anahuac, Texas, Bethany Herring & husband Kody (and daughter Riley) of Crosby, Texas. Keeley May & husband Keenan (and children Kaesen, Kapreigh, Katherine, & Kieran) of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Kaycee, Scott Jr., and Gauge Anderson of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Logan, Layton, Daniel, and Chase Manous of Dickinson, Texas, Sara, Bubba & Skylar Desormeaux of Anahuac, Texas; Madison and Dylan Bishop of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; Laurena Brisboy of Anahuac, Texas; Savannah Desormeaux of Anahuac, Texas; Jullian Bennett of Zachary, LaA.
