Carroll Zane Shawver, 73, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025. Born on Jan. 5, 1952, in Olney, Texas, to Velmer and Nora Shawver, Carroll lived a life full of love, hard work, and devotion to his family and community.
Carroll was a man of strong values, known for his generous spirit and passion for the outdoors. A true cowboy at heart, he cherished time spent on trail rides and was a proud member of the Texans Cattleman’s Trail Riders and the Saltgrass Trail Riders. When he wasn’t riding, Carroll could be found lending a helping hand—always ready to volunteer and give back.
In 1984, Carroll married the love of his life, Nancy, and they made their home in Cleveland, Texas, where he has been a cherished resident ever since. He adored his horses and all animals, but above all, he treasured time spent riding with Nancy by his side.
Carroll is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Nancy Shawver; stepdaughters, Kimberly Dorn and Lindsay Parker; sisters, Evella Shawver, Addie Shawver, and Nancy Wilhelm and her husband Larry; sisters-in-law, Joan Shawver, Joyce Henry, Darlene King, and Doris Kay; brothers-in-law, James Scott and James King; grandchildren, Dallas Dorn, Christopher Dorn, Derrick Dorn, Eric Dorn, Reese Parker, Raif Parker, and Ryder Parker; and great-grandchild, Archie Dorn; along with numerous other family members and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Velmer and Nora Shawver; his sister, Vivian Scott; and his brother, Jimmy Shawver.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, July 15, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, at 10 a.m., in the Pace-Stancil Chapel in Cleveland.
