Andrew Young Jr.

Andrew Young Jr., 86, of Silsbee, Texas, transitioned peacefully on July 16, 2025.

Services are Saturday, July 26, 2025, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 480 Bonner St. Silsbee, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until Funeral at 12 noon. Interment will be held on July 28, 2025, at 10:45 a.m. in Houston, National Cemetery Houston, Texas. 

Andrew Young Jr. was born to Andrew Young Sr and LaVell Adams on November 3, 1938. He later went to school at Waldo Matthews School and started work at Ameripol Synpol with his father. Then he was drafted into the Army and served from October 1961 to October 1963. After he returned to the Army reserve. He was drafted back to the Army with an honorable discharge in September 1967. After returning home he returned to Ameripol Synpol until his retirement after 32 years employed. He was a member of St John Missionary Baptist Church until death. Served as an active deacon until his health declined.

Andrew was preceded in death by parents Andrew Young Sr. LaVell Adams Siblings: Margie Collins, Eddie Young, Barbara Mass, Amy Chaney, James C Young

On Feb. 13, 1971, he married Jessie L Young (Robertson) 54 years of marriage. They had four children: Ronald Robertson, Andrew Young III (Sylvuan) Tina Young-Holman (Jamerson) Douglas Young (Lillian); grandchildren: Jamari, Latina Ronald, Nicole, Cashia, Earl, Donovan and Cameron, Ja’Zareia, Shamarion, A’Myia; great-grandchildren Karter, Kolby, Talor, Faith, Rhonnie, Markel, Damari, Kason; great-great grandchildren Braleigh; and a host of nieces, nephews.
