Highlands man arrested in Liberty County meth trafficking investigation

The Liberty County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office on Wednesday, Aug. 6, concluded an investigation into the sale of methamphetamine in Liberty County.

Information previously received indicated methamphetamine was being sold from a gray 2014 Nissan Sentra. The tipster reported that a Black male driving the Nissan was traveling from Highlands, Texas, delivering methamphetamine per order to various locations in south Liberty County.

Pct. 4 investigators conducted an investigation that, over time, resulted in multiple seizures of suspected methamphetamine totaling well over 100 grams. The suspect was identified as Jevarron Tyrel Stewart of Highlands.

Pct. 4 investigators prepared probable cause affidavits requesting warrants for Stewart’s arrest. Liberty County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Larry Wilburn granted issuance of three felony warrants for Stewart’s arrest.

Pct. 4 investigators, with assistance from the Harris County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office, served the warrants and took Stewart into custody at a residence in the 2300 block of East Wallisville Road in Highlands.

Stewart was arrested on three felony warrants — one for delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, 1-4 grams, a second-degree felony, and two for delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, 4-200 grams, both first-degree felonies.

Additionally, Stewart had two outstanding warrants out of Chambers County — one for delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, 4-200 grams, a first-degree felony, and one for misdemeanor marijuana possession.

Stewart was transported to the Liberty County Jail. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
