Barbara Ann Simon, 88 years old, was born to Norman and Minnie Mitchum in Bessmemer, Ala., on Feb. 13, 1937, passed away Aug. 7, 2025, in Baytown, Texas.
She moved to Anahuac, Texas, at the age of 19. She married Guy W. Simon on April 1956. From this union they became parents of five children, Guy Jr., Marie, Tobas, Lester, and Kay.
Barbara worked most of her life in the health care industry as a nurse in the hospitals in Baytown, Texas, and Denver, Colo. She also worked in home health care for elderly patients in their homes for many years. It was during this time that she met her dear friend Linda Henderson.
Barbara was preceded by husband Guy Sr., her parents Norman and Minnie Mitchum, an infant brother Billy, brother Philip Mitchum, sister Marilyn Bilyeu, sons Guy Jr., Tobas (TC), Lester Simon, daughter Kay Morris, granddaughter Tabatha Chaplain, a very special aunt Mary Goodsell.
Viewing will be at 10 a.m. with funeral at 11 a.m. on Saturday Aug. 16, at Community Christian Fellowship in Church Oak Island, Texas, officiated by Pastor Mark Pagels.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Marie and husband Kent Middleton of Alvin, Texas, daughter-n-law Dawn Simon of Baytown, Texas, and daughter-n-law Donna Simon of Wallisville, Texas. She had nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, brother David Mitchum of Gilbertsville, Ky., also numerous nephews, friends, especially her best friend Linda Henderson, and church family at Community Christian Fellowship Church of Oak Island, Texas.

Interment will be at Anahuac cemetery.
