Gerald George “Jerry” Johnston

Gerald George “Jerry” Johnston was born June 18, 1931, in DuBois, Idaho, to parents, Horace Johnston and Pearl Alderman Johnston. He passed away in Cleveland, Texas, on Aug. 8, 2025, at the age of 94 years. Jerry was a man of great adventure.

He served our country in the USMC during the Korean and Vietnam War. During Vietnam, he was aboard the USS Boxer, USS Princeton and the Admiral Staff. After serving our country he served as a pilot for the government in the Land Grant department.

Jerry loved working with wild mustangs, training and breaking them, and has many that won prestigious metals still today. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dale Johnston and John Johnston; sisters, Sandy and Francis.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 ½ years, Settie Johnston; daughters, Susan Johnston and Tina Beard; grandchildren, Lauren Litner, and Alex Burgess; great-grandchildren, Isobelle Martin, , Samuel Litner, Olivia Burgess, Claire Burgess, and Robert Burgess.

Visitation will be at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Service is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, in the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m. with Pastor Charles Smith officiating.

Pallbearers for the service will be, Greg Burton, Dewayne Corley, Calvin Sherman, Bobby Matthew, Bryant Matthew, Chuck Daniels, Justin Sherman and Alex Burgess. Burial will follow in the Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the USMC.
