Just one week into the new school year, a second Cleveland ISD bus has been involved in a crash. Around 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, a Cleveland ISD school bus was involved in a single-vehicle accident and came to rest on its side along FM 1010. All students and the bus driver were immediately and safely removed from the bus, and no major injuries have been reported.
Medical personnel are on site, and students will be evaluated at a local hospital out of an abundance of caution. Parents have been notified directly. The district has stated it will conduct a full investigation into the matter.
“Student safety is always our highest priority, and we are grateful for the swift response of our transportation staff and emergency responders,” the district said in a statement.
This accident comes just two days after a similar crash in the same vicinity.
On Monday, Aug. 11, a bus carrying students from Cleveland High School and Cleveland Ninth Grade Center was involved in an accident on FM 1010. That bus also came to rest on its side in a ditch, and 36 students were transported to Kingwood Hospital for medical evaluation.
When asked if the two crashes happened at the same location, Cleveland ISD spokesperson Tonya Clark said both incidents remain under investigation.
She also dispelled a rumor that the driver in Monday’s crash had suffered a heart attack, explaining that it is not yet known whether a medical issue played any role.
Clark was also asked if the roadway conditions may have been a factor. She said the district police chief will be working with authorities to determine the cause of the crashes.

I didn’t say that’s what caused the accident. He asked what is going on with FM 1010, implying there is a higher than average amount of wrecks, and I pointed out that it has a high density of illegals who have no license or knowledge of US traffic law, which is a contributing factor in the high number of accidents in our area, which includes FM 1010. It was a general response to a general question.
