Splendora ISD’s own Lisa Foster has been honored as the 2025 Region VI Support Staff of the Year, a prestigious award recognizing her extraordinary service, dedication, and resilience.
The announcement came during Splendora ISD’s annual Convocation, where Dr. Ronny Knox, Region VI Field Service Agent, shared the significance of the award.
“We receive several nominations for Support Staff of the Year across the Region 6 area, which covers 61 school districts and 12 charter school campuses,” Dr. Knox said. “There seems to be a common thread that runs through most of the nomination letters—describing the nominees as selfless, hard working, going the extra mile, and helping to meet the goals of the district. When it is a close decision, I like to invoke the Mr. Rogers clause, which, to paraphrase, is that anyone can be a helper in good times, but the real helpers are those who come forth in times of adversity. That is what really separates the true support staff. This year’s winner epitomizes that philosophy. It gives me great pleasure to award Lisa Foster from Splendora ISD as the 2025 Region VI Support Staff of the Year.”
Foster’s nomination, based on being named the District Auxiliary Employee of the Year, was submitted by Splendora ISD Communications Director Deitra Johnson, who described her as the heartbeat of the district—a person whose work impacts nearly every aspect of school and community life.
Over her decade-plus career with the district, Foster has become the behind-the-scenes architect of Splendora ISD’s communications and volunteer programs. She has built three district websites from scratch, implemented the new ParentSquare communication platform, managed volunteer safety protocols, coordinated blood drives, food drives, and toy drives, and served on the School Health Advisory Council. She is also the creative mind behind district videos, event coverage, and social media content, continually learning new platforms and tools as needed.
“She never asks for recognition, and she doesn’t seek the spotlight,” Johnson wrote in the nomination. “But she deserves it.”
Region VI’s recognition places Foster among the most outstanding school support staff across East Texas. For the Splendora ISD community, it’s a well-deserved celebration of someone who consistently goes above and beyond.
