Whataburger fundraiser sends kids to MDA summer camp

Members of the Burgerworks team visited Camp for All in Burton, Texas, on Aug. 5 to spend the day with MDA Kids Camp participants and present a $10,000 donation check raised through the company’s annual July fundraiser.

Burgerworks, the franchise owner of Whataburger locations in Liberty, Dayton, Cleveland and other nearby cities, held its annual July fundraiser to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association Kids Camp, raising $10,000 through the generosity of loyal customers.

One hundred percent of the money raised will help cover the cost for parents to send their children to MDA Kids Camp, which is normally more than $4,000 per child.

The camp is held at Camp for All in Burton, Texas, a facility equipped so children with muscular dystrophy can take part in summer activities such as kayaking, horseback riding and a ropes course.

On Aug. 5, members of the Burgerworks team traveled to Burton to spend the day interacting with campers and presenting the donation check.

Wayne “Wes” Pickett from the Cleveland Whataburger led all cashiers in donations, collecting $497. Jenny Meeks from the Liberty Whataburger was another top contributor, bringing in $358 for the cause.

“Whataburger would like to thank our loyal area customers for your support through these donations,” said Darwin Davis, a spokesperson for Burgerworks. “Without you, we would not be able to support something as worthy and life-changing as providing opportunities for MDA children to attend camp.”
