The Legacy of Mr. Paul Phillip Ledet


Paul Phillip Ledet was born on March 16, 1965, to Margaret (Breaux) Ledet and Joseph Lawrence Ledet, Jr. in Lafayette, Louisiana.

From an early age, Paul demonstrated a passion for learning and a commitment to service. He attended public school and proudly graduated from Beaumont Chalton Pollard High School. Following his calling to serve his country, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Army, dedicating four years to military service that shaped his character and instilled in him the values of discipline and leadership. Upon returning to civilian life, he pursued his education with determination, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Science from Lamar University. For 24 years, Paul shared his knowledge and passion for education as a dedicated teacher at Central High School. His influence extended far beyond the classroom, touching the lives of countless students and colleagues who admired his unwavering commitment and kindness.

On October 27, 1996, Paul married the love of his life, Daisy. Together, they built a beautiful life over 29 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising their seven children. Paul will be deeply missed not only by his family but also by the many students and co-workers whose lives he enriched. Paul leaves behind a loving legacy, cherished by his wife, Daisy, and their five daughters: Iris Dugas of Brunswick, GA; Sally Young; Jasmine Young; Traci Young; and JaKayla Ledet, all of Beaumont, Texas. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Lawrence Ledet, Jr.; nephew Christopher Hill; grandson Tyrell Brock; paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ledet, Sr. (Beaulah); and Mr. and Mrs. Ovide Breaux (Arcelede).

He is also survived by his son, Ronnie Young, Jr. of Crowley, Texas, and Jacobi Ledet of Beaumont, Texas. His love extended to ten grandchildren: Reginald, Derius, Isaiah, Javontae, Tavian, Janiah, Mariah, Ja’Mariah, Amyra, and Cas’ton, along with one great-grandson, Selah. Paul is remembered fondly by his mother, Ms. Margaret Ledet, and his sisters, Phyllis Ledet and Melissa Ledet, all of Beaumont, Texas. He leaves behind brothers Joseph Lawrence Ledet III and Clarence Ledet of Beaumont, Texas, and Randall Ledet Sr. (Camelia) of Collierville, Tennessee. 

Paul Phillip Ledet’s legacy is one of love, service, and dedication. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, father, teacher, and friend, whose spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
