Multi-agency operation recovers $150K in stolen vehicles, arrests suspects in organized crime case

A multi-month investigation into Underground Performance LLC culminated in a major law enforcement operation in Montgomery County, resulting in the recovery of stolen vehicles, stolen parts, and multiple arrests.

The Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force, working alongside the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, executed two search warrants on local properties with the support of several partner agencies. Those included the U.S. Marshals, Office of Inspector General, Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division, the National Insurance Crime Bureau, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The coordinated effort led to the recovery of approximately $150,000 in stolen vehicles and an additional $15,000 in stolen vehicle parts. Two firearms were also seized during the operation.

Three Conroe residents were charged in connection with the investigation:

  • Devin Lane Mott, 21, arrested and charged with engaging in organized crime and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.
  • Chadrick Craft, 24, arrested and charged with engaging in organized crime.
  • Jason Mott, 46, served with a warrant for engaging in organized crime while already in the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

“The success of this operation is a testament to the hard work and collaboration of all the agencies involved,” said Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle. “We would like to extend our sincere thanks to every agency that assisted the Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force in this investigation.”

The Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force, which spearheaded the investigation, is funded and trained by the Texas Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority.
