On Jan. 20, 1972, a beautiful baby girl was born in Galveston, Texas, to the late Adolph Jr. and the late Rosa Lee Rocio. She had no hair on her head, but her family saw only perfection and named her Lorrie Ann Rocio.
As the youngest child in the family, Lorrie quickly became the apple of her parents’ eye. She grew up in Beaumont, Texas, and attended schools in the Beaumont Independent School District. She graduated from Central High School in 1990, where she played in the school band and was known for her beautiful alto voice that people loved to hear She was united in marriage to Kevin Nickson, Sr. from 1991 until 2005. This union was blessed with two children: Kayla and Kevin Jr.
Lorrie was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1992 and remained a faithful and devoted servant of Jehovah for over 30 years until her last breath. She found joy in encouraging others through her faith, sharing hope from God’s word.
She continued her education at Lamar University and later attended Lamar Institute of Technology in 2023 where she earned a Pharmacy Technician certificate. She worked for many years at Target as a sales associate and later at Walmart Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Tech until her health began to decline.
Lorrie was known for her kind and generous spirit. She helped anyone she could and was a devoted mother, always present for her children’s activities. Whether volunteering as a band mom or attending concerts, rehearsals, and games, she was there cheering them on every step of the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Adolph Jr., and Rosa Lee Rocio, and her brothers Adolph Rocio, III, Vincent Rocio, Donald Rocio and Roy Stevens.
Lorrie leaves behind to cherish her memory: Her children: Kayla Nickson, daughter; Kevin Nickson Jr., son; Six sisters: Patricia Washington (Billy) of Beaumont, Norma Rocio of Humble, Texas, Alice Laday, Shelia Bryant, June Rocio-Alexander (Michael) all of Beaumont, and Connie Rocio of Houston, Texas.
