Mary Alice Tenorio

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and MeMe, Mary Alice Tenorio, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 1, 2025.

Mary Alice was born on Dec. 16, 1950, to R.L. and Doye Mettlen. She lived her life with love, kindness, and grace, and touched countless lives with her gentle spirit.

In February 2022, she was diagnosed with stage 2 triple-negative breast cancer with three positive lymph nodes. She faced her diagnosis with courage and unwavering faith, and fought valiantly through each stage of her journey. Despite her determination, the cancer returned and spread to her lungs, discovered in September 2025. After a sudden decline, she was hospitalized at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Humble, Texas, where she fought her final battle with both cancer and pneumonia.

Even through hardship, Mary Alice’s strength never wavered. She lived every moment for her family — especially her devoted daughter, son-in-law, and her four grandsons, whom she lovingly called “her boys.” She loved them, along with her extended family and friends, with all her heart.

She is survived by her daughter Salina Leonardt and husband David; sister Ressie Jenkins and husband Mike; sister Tanja Joslin and husband John; sister Ruby Ford and husband Kelly; brother Gene Mettlen and wife Wilma; her treasured grandchildren, David Scott Leonardt and fiancée Jaycie Allen, Kurt Leonardt, Matthew Leonardt, and Brett Leonardt; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and a host of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary Alice will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She wanted everyone to remember these three words: “I love you.” She encouraged us all to be kind, forgive, and love one another.

We ask that those attending her service wear pink in her honor, as a tribute to her fight and to breast cancer awareness.

Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., also at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, with burial immediately following at Security Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Susan G. Komen in Mary Alice’s memory, to continue the fight against breast cancer.
