The City of Liberty is unveiling its most radiant holiday celebration yet with Lights in Liberty, a season-long series of festive events taking place each Tuesday from Nov. 18 through Dec. 16.
This marks the first time Liberty has officially lit the entire Vara Faye Martin Daniel Park located in City Hall Square, an impressive kickoff for five weeks of music, community, and holiday cheer.
The Lighting of the City Hall Park ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18. The event will include:
• Live pre-lighting music by the Drake, Cannon and Collins families beginning at 5:30 p.m.
• Face painting by the Liberty High School Art Honor Society
• More than 66,500 twinkling lights across City Hall Square, Vera Faye Martin Daniel Park and Pavilion, with photo opportunities for children and families
• A global geocache challenge connecting Liberty to holiday seekers around the world
• A local scavenger hunt designed to bring families together as they explore festive landmarks throughout the city
• Free refreshments for the first 300 people, sponsored by First Liberty Bank. Each week, additional local businesses and organizations will sponsor free food.
• Local vendors and food trucks surrounding City Hall Park
This inaugural lighting event marks the beginning of a new tradition that brings Liberty together under the glow of holiday lights.
Weekly Tuesday events will continue through Dec. 16, each beginning at 5:30 p.m. Themes will include “Highlighting Local Merchants,” the “Rays of Light” parade, “Sharing Your Light” through local churches and nonprofits, and “Light-Hearted Fun in the Snow” at the Liberty Municipal Library.
Lights in Liberty celebrates community, tradition, and the joy that shines brightest when people come together.

Is this going to cancel the Christmas parade?
The Christmas parade will be on Tuesday, December 2nd. I think they are using this as a way to phase out the Liberty Jubilee, which is very disappointing. I think the decision was made one or the other. And Liberty lights won out…
I love the sound of this! I look forward to each of the Tuesday’s during my favorite part of the year.
I love this!! Gives people a chance to attend a Tuesday…or every Tuesday as their schedule permits!!
