Liberty Lions Club continues ‘Flags Across Liberty’ tradition

If you’ve noticed more than 700 American flags lining streets, neighborhoods, and business fronts throughout the city of Liberty during patriotic holidays, you’ve seen the longtime work of the Liberty Lions Club. For more than 30 years, the organization has carried out its “Flags Across Liberty” program, a community tradition that brings a wave of red, white, and blue to town five times each year.

The club is now renewing participation for the 2026 season. Renewal notices were mailed this week, so past participants should expect to receive them soon.

Flag subscriptions help fund college scholarships for Liberty High School graduates. Through this program alone, the Lions Club has awarded more than $30,000 in scholarships each of the past several years. Club members say the success of the program not only supports local students but also reflects Liberty’s shared pride in community and country.

The Lions Club is inviting new homes and businesses to join the tradition. The annual subscription fee is $50 per flag, and participants may request multiple flags for their property.

Those interested in signing up may contact Flag Program Coordinator David Leonard at 936-346-2358. Checks for $50—made payable to Liberty Lions Club—may also be mailed to: Liberty Lions Club, P.O. Box 9122, Liberty, TX 77575.

Please include the address where the flag should be placed. Inquiries may also be sent by email to flags@libertylionsclub.org.

The Liberty Lions Club thanks the community for supporting scholarships for Liberty High School seniors and for proudly celebrating the United States through the “Flags Across Liberty” program.
