Shirley Boyer

Shirley Boyer, 92, of New Iberia, La., passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at her home, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Her funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m. at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton, Texas. Born on July 3, 1933, in Scottsbluff, Neb., Shirley was the loving daughter of Frederick and Lydia Weideman. She married the love of her life, Lloyd Boyer, on April 4, 1953.

Shirley and Lloyd shared a beautiful life together, raising their three children in Denver, Colorado, for 40 years. Later, they moved to Dayton, Texas, and became devoted members of the VFW Post #5621 of Liberty, Texas. Shirley’s heart was filled with joy whenever she spent time with her family. She reveled in family gatherings, shopping, playing cards, bingo, casino trips and traveling with loved ones to attend her husband’s Navy ship (USS Orleck) reunions.

Shirley is survived by her three children: son Kelly Boyer and wife Renee of Yankton, South Dakota; daughter Dorinda Markley and husband Micheal of New Iberia, Louisiana; son Fredrick Boyer and wife Michelle of Dayton, Texas; grandchildren Aaron Boyer, Matthew (Ashley) Markley, Nicholas (Genny) Markley, Nathaniel (Falyn) Markley, Travis Boyer, Phillip (Jess) Boyer, Amy (Tim) Taylor, and Joshua Boyer; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Though she will be deeply missed, Shirley’s love and spirit will continue to inspire her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, and her brother.
