City of Liberty addresses officer’s involvement in Nov. 20 auto-pedestrian accident

The City of Liberty is sharing information about an incident that happened in the middle of the night on Nov. 20, 2025. According to the City, a Liberty Police Department officer was driving when the side-view mirror of his patrol vehicle accidentally struck a pedestrian.

Emergency medical personnel arrived immediately, and the pedestrian was given prompt medical care at the scene.

City officials say that, in the interest of transparency and to ensure an independent review, they requested the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to take over the investigation into the crash. DPS investigators responded during the night and conducted a full review of what happened.

Once DPS completed its investigation, the City reviewed the findings and took disciplinary action in accordance with department policies and applicable law.

Because of personnel-privacy requirements, the City is limited in the amount of information it can release about the officer involved or the disciplinary steps taken. Officials emphasized, however, that the matter was treated with the seriousness it deserved.

In its press release, the City stated, “The City of Liberty remains committed to accountability, public safety, and maintaining the trust of our residents. We thank DPS for its professional and impartial investigation.”

  1. Personal privacy? But where is the personal privacy when yall put the average citizen on blast for something. Complete BS and a double standard.

  2. Liberty cop runs over a pedestrian, FANTASTIC. Lets see how the cover up goes? The law says the pedestrian always has the right of way. Did this law breaker know the law since they are a cop? They’ll get a free ride. Nothing will happen to them. The good ole boy’s club will work its magic.

  3. If DPS worked the crash then no “good ol
boy” club favors. And if a crash report was done then the report is public information and the officer and victim will be on the crash report, no privacy when it comes to that report. Now depending on when and where the pedestrian was walking whether or not the officer was at fault, again all should be on report and also dash cam video is open records and can be requested by anyone so they might as well be transparent and show and tell all now

    • You really don’t understand the good ole boy system of city government? Their actions will prove my point. I disagree with you.

  4. Pigs investigating Pigs . They’re hiding information just like they did when a City of Liberty pig shot someone by Valero store a couple years ago. City Manager needs to be fired
