Ballot order set for Liberty County Republican primary races

The Liberty County Republican Party held its ballot draw event Thursday night, Dec. 18, at Generations Coffee and Sandwich Shop in Liberty, determining the order in which candidates will appear on the March 3, 2026, Republican primary ballot.

For the 253rd State District Court race, Chap Cain drew the first position on the ballot, followed by Josh Fitzgerald.

In the race for the 75th State District Court, the ballot order will be J.D. Chandler, Michelle Merendino, Zach Zbranek and David Glenn Williams.

Candidates for county treasurer will appear on the ballot in the following order: Kim Harris and Jackie Gean Johnson.

The ballot order for Precinct 2 commissioner will be Jacob Mullins, Barry Crouch, Wade Brown, Richard Himburg and Greg Arthur.

For Precinct 4 commissioner, candidates will appear as John Headrick, Gerald Kolarik and Brant Elliott.

In the race for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2, the ballot order will be Briana Dryer, Robert Adams and Jimmy Belt.

Candidates seeking the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5 position will appear as Joe Williams, James Gardiner, Bryant Kutra and Joe McAnally.

The Republican Party chairman race will list candidates in the following order: Craig McNair, Wes Thomas and Ryan Taylor.

For Texas State Senator, District 3, Rhonda Ward will appear first on the ballot, followed by Trent Ashby.

Candidates in the U.S. Congressional District 9 race will appear in this order: Terry Thain, Dwayne Stovall, Crystal Sarmiento, Michael A. Curran, Alex Mealer, Briscoe Cain, Jaimy Blanco, Steve Stockman and Dan Mims.

Several elected officials will not face opposition in the Republican primary. Those running unopposed include County Judge Jay Knight, County Clerk Lee Haidusek Chambers, County Court at Law Judge Thomas “Tommy” Chambers, Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Stephen Hebert, Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Cody Parrish, Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Larry Wilburn and Precinct 6 Justice of the Peace Ralph Fuller. Delores Wiley is the only candidate seeking the position of district clerk.
