Man airlifted after shooting at Dayton gas station

A 30-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital Saturday night after being shot at a Dayton gas station.

According to the Dayton Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:16 p.m. on Jan. 3, 2026, to a reported shooting at the Fuel Max gas station located at 9645 U.S. Highway 90.

When officers arrived at the scene, they determined that a 30-year-old white male had been shot. A responding officer rendered first aid to the victim until medical personnel arrived. The victim was later airlifted to a local hospital for treatment. His condition was not released.

During the investigation, officers identified a suspect, who was located near his residence and taken into custody. The suspect was also transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation. The Texas Rangers are assisting the Dayton Police Department with the investigation.

No additional information was released as of press time.
