Suspect arrested after allegedly damaging, burglarizing O’Reilly Auto Parts in Cleveland

Cleveland police arrested a suspect late Sunday after responding to a report of a suspicious person at O’Reilly Auto Parts.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 11:34 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, to O’Reilly Auto Parts, 909 N. Washington Ave. Upon arrival, witnesses reported seeing a male suspect breaking into the store’s delivery trucks.

A check of the property revealed the front glass entrance doors had been shattered. Officers continued searching the area and located a male suspect hiding behind a dumpster outside the business. The individual matched the description provided by witnesses and was immediately detained.

The suspect was identified as Rafael Gonzales Jr., 30, of Cleveland. Officers observed visible cuts and blood on his hands. Gonzales was taken into custody without incident, and emergency medical personnel treated his injuries at the scene.

Store management responded and conducted a walk-through of the property, estimating damage at approximately $50,000.

Gonzales was arrested and charged with burglary of a building, a state jail felony, with bond set at $10,000, and criminal mischief of $30,000 or more but less than $150,000, a third-degree felony, with bond set at $20,000.
