Betty Louise Hogg Reeves

Betty Louise Hogg Reeves passed away peacefully on Jan. 11, 2026. She was born on Sept. 13, 1951, in Houston, Texas, to Margaret Louise Couch Hogg and Kerrye Thomas Hogg, Jr. She graduated from Furr High School, studied mathematics and English at Houston Baptist University, and completed a master’s degree at Sam Houston State University.

In 1974, Betty married Curtis Brent Reeves of Houston. In the early years of their marriage, they enjoyed traveling and would continue taking their children on weeks’ long road trips every summer. She was a dedicated educator of forty years, teaching math at C.E. King High School and San Jacinto Community College. Brent and Betty moved their family to Liberty in 1993, and she taught for sixteen years in Liberty ISD.

After retiring Betty and Brent drove across the country several times a year, searching for genealogical records and attending NASCAR races. She was proud to be a member of the Libertad Chapter of National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution and a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star.

The greatest joy of her life was spending the last 10 years as “Bebe” to her four grandchildren. Bebe could always be counted on to have the best snacks and a lap ready for snuggling and reading books. She was always eager to share her grandkids’ latest interests, achievements, and pictures.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents Georgiann Masten and Kerrye Hogg Sr., and Mary Day and Albert Couch; infant sister Mary Ann Hogg; nephew Christopher Clanton; and great-niece Kendra Clanton. She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Curtis “Brent” Reeves; children Shannon Reeves Gardner (Mark) and Curtis Reeves (Sarah); grandchildren Nathan and Charlotte Gardner and Henry and Grace Reeves; sister Kerrye Hogg Middleton; sisters-in-law Beth Reeves McKenney (Frank) and Jan Reeves Ingebretson (Randy); brother-in-law Bruce Reeves; nieces Meredith McKenney Schulz and Audrey Ley Scheck; nephews Kevin Clanton, Kurt McKenney, Nolan Ley, Max Ley, and Keaton Ley; great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous cousins.
