Cameron Robert Thornton, 22, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Jan. 11, 2026. Cameron was born on July 7, 2003, in Pasadena, Texas, to Robert Lee Thornton Jr. and Tiffiny Renea (Murrell) Thornton.
Cameron grew up attending The Little Country Church in New Caney, where he was surrounded by faith and a loving community. He attended Dayton ISD schools from 2nd grade through high school graduation, proudly earning his high school diploma from Dayton High School in 2021.
Cameron had a deep love for people and connection. He especially loved being talked to and cherished nothing more than hearing his momma’s voice. He enjoyed watching television—particularly cartoons—and had a fondness for classic female country music singers. Cameron loved going on outings and riding in the car, happily watching the scenery pass by as the family traveled. Going “bye bye” was always a favorite activity. True to his honest nature, Cameron was never shy about sharing his dislike for baths.
Cameron was blessed with the devoted care of his home nurse, Stephanie Forrester, who worked with him daily for the past nine years. She was deeply loved by Cameron and his family and was truly considered part of the family.
Cameron is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Joan Margaret Logeland; and his grandfathers, Randall Ray Murrell and Ricky Lynn Tooley.
He is survived by his loving parents, Robert Lee Thornton Jr. and Tiffiny Renea Thornton; grandparents Robert Lee Thornton Sr. and Deborah Thornton, and Philip and Diann Sparkman; his sister, Kylie Renea Thornton; aunt Elizabeth Leffew; uncles Timothy Murrell and wife Juanita, Brian Murrell and wife Christina, and William Thornton and wife Tasha; and many beloved cousins: Samantha, Garren, Keris, Nikolas, Cade, Kai, Michaela, Clayton, and Celeste.
The family will host a Celebration of Life honoring Cameron on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 12 p.m., at The Little Country Church, located at 22152 Baptist Encampment Road, New Caney, Texas.
Cameron will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his love for people, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
