
Thomas Edward Gassiott was born in Houston, Texas, on Oct. 27, 1950. He was the third son born to Powell Ralph Gassiott Jr. and Edna Sue Carter Gassiott. Tommy passed away at his home in Point Blank, Texas, Jan. 15, 2026.
After graduating from Cleveland High School, Tommy attended East Texas Baptist University before joining the Air Force. While serving in the Air Force, Tommy was stationed in Hawaii and also in his favorite assignment in Iceland. After leaving the Air Force, he worked for several companies that had contracts with the D.O.D. He then returned home and worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Point Blank, Texas until his retirement.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Powell and Sue Gassiott, sister-in-law, Joanna Gassiott, niece, Lisa Gassiott, and great nephew Gavin Gassiott. He is survived by brothers Ralph Gassiott, Glen Gassiott and wife Joyce, and Tim Gassiott and wife Mary, and nieces and nephews Kyle Gassiott, Karri Gassiott Sanders and husband Joe, Kristen Gassiott Wagner and husband Greg, Grant Gassiott and wife Angela, Gregg Gassiott and wife Keisha, James Gassiott, and Joel Gassiott. Included with survivors are 16 great nieces and nephews, numerous close cousins, and the friends he made in the Point Blank area that he considered family.
He enjoyed getting to know people on his mail route. He made many friends in the area and was always included in family gatherings. Other activities he enjoyed included attending Evergreen Baptist Church, researching family history and placing flowers and upkeep on family graves. His main joy was spending time in Arkansas at the White Mountain Resort, enjoying the beautiful view and cool weather. In Arkansas, like Point Blank, he made lasting friends and was welcomed like family.
Tommy’s ashes will be spread at a later date at places where he had fond memories and connections.
