Darlene L. (Cowey) Gresham

Darlene L. (Cowey) Gresham, 82, of Anahuac, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, in Baytown.

Darlene was born Nov. 23, 1943, in Baytown, to parents: Douglas Cowey and Margie Lawson, and lived there with her 2 siblings. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, where she met her husband of 60 years, Amos Gresham. After getting married, she moved to California while Amos was serving in the Navy. They moved back to Texas, settling in Anahuac to raise their 3 children, residing there for the past 58 years. She was a former high school cafeteria worker and clerk for Dollar General but spent most of her time as a homemaker. Darlene enjoyed coloring, shopping, playing games, cooking, and watching the Astros. She loved listening to music from her favorite group, The Gaithers, and attended several of their concerts. She faithfully attended church most of her life and eagerly looked forward to spending eternity in Heaven. Next to her faith, her greatest joy was spending time with her “kids”, all 25 of them.

Mrs. Gresham was preceded in death by her father: Douglas Cowey, mother: Margie Lawson, husband: Amos Gresham, brother: Richard Cowey, and sister: Dorothea Gillen. She is survived by her children: Sherry Merlos and husband Henry, Wayne Gresham and wife Paula, and Cathy Moore and husband Keith, grandchildren: Alex, Joshua, Heather, Nina, Tiffany, Michael, and Jacob, great-grandchildren: Landon, Fallon, Emmitt, Serenity, Zachary, Liam, Brooklyn, Jaxson, and Jayden.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Anahuac, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Anahuac with burial following at Anahuac Cemetery.
