Lynda Horn Kilgore

Lynda Horn Kilgore, age 79, passed away peacefully on Feb. 2, 2026, in Baytown, Texas.

Lynda was born on Oct. 24, 1946, in Logansport, Louisiana, to James Oliver Horn and Margaret Breedlove Horn. She spent the last 48 years of her life in Baytown, Texas, and previously lived in Mont Belvieu with her beloved husband of 59 years, Billie Kilgore.

A woman of faith, Lynda attended the Baptist church. She was actively involved in her community, holding membership in the local Women’s Club and the Texas Court Association. Lynda dedicated much of her professional life to public service, working as a court administrator for the City of Baytown for 20 years until her retirement. Her expertise and dedication were so highly regarded that the City of La Porte later persuaded her to return to work, where she served an additional 13 years.

Above all, Lynda cherished her family. She loved hosting family gatherings and was known for cooking meals that brought everyone together. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she rarely missed an opportunity to watch and support them in their activities throughout childhood and their teenage years.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret Horn.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Kilgore; her son, Billy Kilgore, and wife Julie; her brother, Jamey Horn, and wife Stephane; her sister, Anita Askew, and husband Neal; her grandchildren, Presley Kilgore and Margo Pyle and husband Paul; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Lynda will be remembered for her devotion to family, her strong work ethic, her generous spirit, and the love she shared so freely with all who knew her.
