Clarissa Atkinson Malone

Clarissa Atkinson Malone was born Nov. 4, 1941 in Houston, Texas, and presided in Coldspring for over 4 decades. She entered Heaven’s Gates on Feb. 7, 2026 at the age of 84.

Mama, as we all called her, loved first and foremost her family. She was truly the matriarch of the family. She also had a passion for the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys, Crappie fishing, country and gospel music, cruising to the Caribbean, going to the beach and visiting with her grandchildren. It was a blessing to have her as a mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Mama just made life better.

Every time she entered the house it filled with laughter, warmth and love. Her guidance and wisdom will truly be missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Valeria Atkinson; her beloved husband, William “Bill” Malone; sister, Thelma Birdwell. She is survived by her beloved children, Liz Cole and husband Walter Cole, David Malone, and Mark Malone and wife Lisa Malone; sister, Donna Burns; grandchildren, Bill Cloud, Marcus Malone and wife Krystal, and Wesley Cole and wife Katrina; great-grandchildren, Shawn, Dylan, Ashley, Kylie, Jacoby, Ace, Blair, Brook, Landon and Heather; great great-grandchildren, Jayce, Easton, Liam, Lily, and 2 baby girls on the way. Nieces and Nephews: Don Birdwell and wife Donna, Joann Birdwell, Larry Birdwell, Tina Jackson and husband Joey, Carla Parker, Julie Alexander And Michelle-. Her Bonus children and Lifelong friends: Darlene Smith, Jackie and Roger Sieg, Laura and Charley and son Nolan Broadway.

Graveside Service is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens Cemetery outside of Cleveland, with Pastor Dalton Currie officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Bill Cloud, Marcus Malone, Wesley Cole, Shawn Cloud, Dylan Cloud, and Walter Cole. Following the service, there will be a luncheon served at the Evergreen Baptist Church, 7605 TX-150, Coldspring, Texas 77331. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the MD Anderson Cancer Society at gifts.mdanderson.org
