Floyd Edward Smith was born on Oct. 26, 1938, in Marlin, Texas. Surrounded by the love of his family, he peacefully passed away at home on Feb. 14, 2026—Valentine’s Day, a day that beautifully represents love—with his devoted wife, children, and grandchildren by his side.
Floyd was truly the life of the party. Known for his quick wit, warm smile, and wonderful sense of humor, he had a way of bringing laughter and joy wherever he went. His presence could light up any room, and his stories and jokes will be cherished memories for all who knew him.
A proud Army veteran, Floyd served his country with honor. He was also a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, organizations that reflected his strong values, faith, and commitment to community.
Floyd loved spending time with his family above all else. Whether bowling, playing cards at the Coldspring Senior Center, or trying his luck at the casinos, he embraced life with enthusiasm and a playful spirit. He also had a deep love for animals and was known for being a caring, tender-hearted man who would help anyone in need.
Floyd began his career at Brown & Root as a mechanic and, through hard work and determination, advanced into management overseeing heavy equipment. After dedicating 30 years to Brown & Root, he found his dream job as a salesman for High-Tech Pump & Crane. In 1999, Floyd and his beloved wife retired to Coldspring, Texas, where they enjoyed the years surrounded by friends, family, and community.
Floyd’s legacy is one of love, laughter, service, and devotion. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Coldspring Senior Center on March 7 at 3 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember a life so well lived.
