Janice Marie Wells

Janice Marie Wells was born Sept. 15, 1947, in Palestine, Texas, to parents, Travis Conn Smith and Eunice Marie Price Smith. She passed away in The Woodlands, Texas, on Feb. 17, 2026, at the age of 78.

Janice was most proud of working as a key punch operator for Shell Oil Company and later in life she worked at the Liberty County Jail in the booking department. Her greatest joy in life was for her husband and her sons. She loved life and loved being with her family for all the holidays and all the special memories they shared.

She was preceded in death by her parents Travis and Eunice Smith; beloved husband, John Edward Wells; brother, Travis Weldon Smith. Janice is survived by her beloved sons, John Edward Wells Jr and his wife Tabitha Wells, and Gerald Wayne Wells and Lynette Castleman; sisters, Patsy Allen, Bonnie Davis, Wanda Sanders, and Eva Holst; grandchildren, Gerald Jr, Alissa, Carolyn, Trey, Kayla, Faith, and Heather, great-grandchildren, Brayden, Ethan, Zaylie, Kaylee, Aubrey, Keaton, Lovely, Everli, Blair, Waylon, Greyson, Gavin, and Hayden.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, in the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Service will be Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at 10 a.m., with Bro. Carl Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Wells Family Cemetery in Clark, Texas. Pallbearers for the service will be, Gerald Jr, Trey, Zach, Ty, Cooper, Steven, Brayden, and Ethan.
