19-year-old Silsbee woman killed in rollover crash on Grand Parkway

At approximately 9:06 p.m. Sunday, March 1, a fatal crash occurred on the Grand Parkway (SH 99) near Community Drive.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2006 Lexus Q64 was traveling northbound on SH 99 when the driver attempted to pass multiple vehicles on the inside shoulder. The vehicle left the roadway, reentered SH 99, went into a side skid, traveled back into a ditch and rolled over.

The female driver, a 19-year-old from Silsbee, whose name is being withheld at this time, was fully ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dr. Bryan Everitt, EMS director for Allegiance Mobile Health, after first responders performed CPR for approximately 20 to 30 minutes before ambulances arrived.

A passenger, Addi Sue-Ann Whittington, 18, of Beaumont, was transported to HCA Kingwood with minor injuries.

“We are unsure why she went off the road and was driving like that,” said Sgt. Rob Willoughby, supervisor of the Liberty County office of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash was investigated by Trooper Courtland Friend and assisted by Troopers Ramseur and Thaggard, along with Trooper Wilcox and Sgt. Willoughby. The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.

The highway was closed for several hours while authorities investigated the crash and cleared the roadway.

    • Saying this does not change the tragedy. Be more sensitive with your comments. This is new news and the negativity is not needed. A life was lost regardless of what should or shouldn’t have been done.

    • THIS IS MORE THEN SAD, this is devastating, for the family and her friends who were just like family. this is not about caring what someone else thinks about you or says about you!!! THIS IS NOT ABOUT you and if you do not know anyone involved its best to not comment, and just common sense to keep the dumb comments to yourself.

So many people have lost such a precious soul and reading this comment is just disgusting and wrong.

    • Debbie , ive been with the family all day today. You evidently don’t have children and evidently don’t need any children. But you didn’t see the face of the mother of that child and I hope and pray you don’t ever say that about another child . You are ignorant, Jerry Joe Wilkerson

  1. Debbie I hope pray you don’t have children I this happens to one of your and I hope and pray it doesn’t. I’ve been with the family of that child all day long . I didn’t see what I saw . A grieving mother , brother sister , and grandmother. And all of us . Yes I’m glad no one else got hurt are killed but the family and here friends don’t need and ignerant person like you to be saying

  2. I doubt your kids do everything you think you taught them Debbie. and I doubt they make no mistakes. it could have been a emergency. kids don’t think there life could be shortened. I would bet the form you made more mistakes at 19 than this girl would have made at 30. I’m sure your way to old to make any assumptions. so go crawl bake in the hole you come out of and keep your fat ass in there
