Joyce Sharon Jannise

Joyce Sharon Jannise, 76, of Anahuac, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026.

Joyce was born on January 13, 1950, in El Campo, Texas, to Eugene and Margaret Koehl. She was raised in Hamshire, Texas, and later made Anahuac her home after marrying the love of her life, Tommy, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. From an early age, she carried a deep love for family—one that would become the foundation of her life. Nothing brought her greater joy than being a “Nana”. She especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding joy and purpose in every moment shared with them. They were truly the light of her life and her proudest accomplishment.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Joyce will be remembered for her gentle spirit and the way she had of making others feel welcome and cared for- whether through a warm conversation, a thoughtful gesture, or simply her comforting presence. Her love was constant, unconditional, and deeply felt by all who knew her.

In 1968, Joyce began beauty school and later graduated, and started her career as a hair stylist. She later worked for the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office as an Administrative Assistant, where she faithfully served 20 years before retiring. Joyce was known for her steady presence, strong work ethic, and kindness she showed to everyone she encountered.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Thomas (Tommy) Jannise, who stood faithfully by her side throughout their life together; her children, Steven Jannise and wife Denise , and Carrie Villemez husband Darin; her sister Janice Sowell and husband Rodney; and brother-in-law, Darrell Jannise and wife Charlotte.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Garret Villemez and wife Georgia; Kaylie Thompson and husband Casey; Jared Jannise; Aimee Jannise and fiancé Corey Duke; Natalie Devillier; Grant Devillier and wife Daisy; Luke Devillier and wife Emily; Lance Devillier and fiancée Haily Trevino.

Her great grandchildren include John and Pippa Villemez; Scottie Thompson; Ashton and Lyla Jannise; Violet Duke; and Lawson Devillier, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Eugene and Margaret Koehl; her sister, Cindy Koehl; and mother- and father-in-law Mildred and Clement Jannise.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. The love she poured into her family will continue to guide us, and her memory will forever be a blessing. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
