A group of 37 Liberty Elementary Student Council members recently traveled to Austin for their annual visit to the Texas State Capitol. The Student Council, made up of 4th and 5th grade students, was accompanied by their sponsors, Brooke Box and Kay Abshire.

During their visit, the students were welcomed by State Representative Janis Holt (House District 18), who met with the group and helped host their visit to the Capitol.

The students toured the historic Capitol building, visited Representative Holt’s office, and made a stop at the State Gift Shop during their time in Austin.

Representative Holt expressed her appreciation for Liberty ISD and the sponsors who helped make the trip possible.

“It was a pleasure to welcome the Liberty Elementary Student Council to the Texas State Capitol. These students represent the future leaders of our communities, and it is encouraging to see young people taking an interest in how our state government works. I appreciate Liberty ISD and sponsors Brooke Box and Kay Abshire for investing their time in bringing these students to Austin for this experience,” said Representative Holt.

The annual trip provides Liberty students with the opportunity to experience state government firsthand while proudly representing Liberty ISD at the Texas Capitol.
