The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with organized criminal activity and a series of burglaries targeting gated communities.
Authorities are searching for Jose Ignacio Venegas Nieto, 35, who investigators say also uses the alias Fernando Rodriguez.
According to the sheriff’s office, Nieto has two active warrants for engaging in organized criminal activity and is considered a person of interest in more than 15 high-end burglaries of homes throughout Montgomery County.
Investigators believe Nieto may be part of an international organized crime ring responsible for a series of burglaries across the United States. Officials say several of the more recent cases have occurred in Southeast Texas and surrounding areas.
Nieto is described as a Hispanic male and has a tattoo on his left forearm with the name “Lilian.”
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said it is working with local, state and federal law enforcement partners to locate Nieto and his known associates.
Authorities warn the public not to approach or attempt to detain him. Anyone who sees Nieto is urged to call 911 immediately.
