She graduated from Stephen F. Austin and later earned her master’s degree, dedicating many years to her career as an educator. Outside the classroom, Betty found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved to sew, garden, and care for her plants. She was an avid sports fan—especially of the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros. She had a special fondness for Astros mascot, Orbit. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball and was an enthusiastic member of an all-ladies league.
