David Hans Ludwig Sr., of Cleveland, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, just days before his 75th birthday. He was born March 23, 1951, in Cleveland, Texas, to Hans and Lucille Williams Ludwig.
David was a loving and devoted Pops, proud Pawpaw, loving brother, and loyal friend. His greatest joy in life was his family, and he treasured every moment spent with them. Whether he was sharing stories, cooking a good meal, or simply sitting outside enjoying the fresh air, David made those around him feel loved and welcomed.
He had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, or enjoying the quiet beauty of nature. David especially loved cooking for his family and bringing everyone together. His laughter, warm heart, and the way he cared for those around him will be remembered and cherished forever.
He is survived by his children, David Ludwig Jr. and wife Kimberly, Paul Ludwig, and Crystal Ludwig-York and husband Jon. He was a proud Pawpaw to his grandchildren: Cody, Reece, Stoney, Kensey, Christina, Justin, Dalton, Colby, Connor, Joshua, and Maddyson; and numerous great grandchildren.
David is also survived by his sisters, Vera Bailey and Martha Smith and husband Larry; and his brothers, Bennie D. Ludwig and Ted Douglas Ludwig.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Lucille Ludwig; his brother, Steve Ludwig; and his sisters, Charlotte Hollis and Norma Gibson.
David will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His love for his family, his generous spirit, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
